Prince Devitt is yet another name who needs little introduction to wrestling fans the globe over.
The super athletic Irishman who called New Japan Pro Wrestling home for the better part of 8 years is a former IWGP Junior Heavyweight Champion and a former IWGP Junior Heavyweight Tag Team Champion. He won the Best of the Super Juniors tournament twice, once in 2010 and once 2013 and also won the J Sports Crown Openweight 6 Man Tag Team Tournament twice, once in 2010 and once in 2011. Outside of NJPW, Devitt has held the NWA World Historic Middleweight Championship and the NWA British Commonwealth Championship.
Fergal Devitt made his first PCW appearance in March 2014 at Who Dares Wins. Paired up against PCW's franchise player, Kris Travis, Devitt would defeat “The Shooting Star” in a blistering contest. The match was so incredible that immediately following the bell, PCW owner Steven Fludder made a re-match for the following month. Devitt would emerge victorious again at Spring Slam.
Devitt resigned from NJPW in early April and would sign with WWE in May. On 28th July, WWE officially announced the signing of Devitt and that he would report to WWE developmental territory, NXT, later that same day. He was renamed Finn Balor in late September and made his NXT television debut at the start of November.
